Do I really need a 'Psych Yourself Up Playlist'?!
Whether you're doing a PhD or not, somedays you just aren't feeling it.
Depending on my mood, progress and general demeanour. Spotify playlists for different occasions acted as a small silver lining when tackling those niggling tasks in my PhD journey. Since I still know a fair few on the PhD journey, I figured I'd share some tunes that I used and still do when I need a boost!

The Psych Yourself Up Playlist
This playlist is for those times when you need to a kickstart in intensity levels to re-motivate yourself and get back on track.
Suggested listening for the office/commute
- With headphones before the 'nitty gritty' work begins.
- hopefully it helps get in the zone and forget about the coffee that's just spilt out of your cup/flask on the way to work (it may have left a stain but it will NOT ruin your day)
For Lab -based PhD students
Listen to this playlist before those tasks that require a little pysching up:
- trying to find 3-4 year old samples in the -80 degree freezer (we all know it's Narnia in there so please wrap up warm and make sure you have some good listening to keep you company)
- the analysis you've been putting off - those excel spreadsheets won't do themselves but some uplifting songs can help ease the monotony
- corrections - PhD/paper revisions - just why?! and when will it be over? As soon as you press play, that's when!
