Friday Fun:: May Cause Glastonbury Withdrawal Symptoms! Oxfam Stewarding 2014

Can't quite believe it's already been almost two weeks since Glastonbury!!

It started out with a very well packed car...

....and these were just 1 friend's belongings!

The rest of us were slightly worried as to how we'd fit everything else in...let alone return in 1 piece.

...but I'm getting ahead of myself.

Glastonbury is the world's biggest and probably most well known festival.

What is less well known however is the fact that there are so many people that work behind the scenes to produce a seamless, safe and enjoyable event.

We went to Glastonbury as Oxfam stewards, volunteering our time, whilst still being able to enjoy the beautiful happy music haven that is Glastonbury festival 2014!

---

We got to enjoy some perks like enjoying Worthy Farm before the crowds:

Before embarking on 1 of 3 Oxfam stewarding shifts!

As stewards, we were prepared for anything...

A night shift...

...multiple gorgeous Glastonbury sunrises...

...yet, clearly not prepared for a photo! Thanks Hym for this stunner below...

One great thing about stewarding for Glastonbury, apart from separate hot showers and toilets was the food!

We were given 5 food vouchers for the duration of our time there.

Who could resist refuelling on this?!

From previous festival goers, I'd heard that Glastonbury Festival has a whole lot to offer than just music & I was keen to check it all out.

So we went exploring.

No festival would be complete without a little mud.

But obviously...

'There's something magical about Worthy Farm & Glastonbury'

I'd heard this a lot before I got to experience it myself. But even I've found it to be true.

There's just something about it that makes Glastonbury Festival a genuinely happy place.

---

A lot of people I know seemed surprised I've always wanted to go to Glastonbury.

'You don't seem the type'

'When did you become a hippie?!'

'You'd never have guessed looking at you'

These were just some of the comments I received.

---

I guess there's still a lot of misconception about festivals in general.

I myself, didn't realise just how popular Glastonbury is with families or that there are so many arts, crafts and sustainable organisation promotion that goes on.

Though some of my highlights did obviously involve music;

Running to catch Paolo Nutini after his set was delayed due to poor weather & making it after our 8 hour shift!

Catching half of Ellie Goulding & half of The Parov Stellar Electro Swing Band.

...or being mesmerised by London Grammar vocals.

There's something about listening to live music in a crowd of thousands.

There's something even more special about listening to live music in a crowd of thousands, covered in mud, surrounded by mud at Glastonbury Festival.

---

I can't quite describe it but there's something magical about creating memories with some of your closest friends, in a place that is like no other place you've been to;.

And no. For the record, I haven't turned into a hippie.

Glastonbury, filled with its friendly atmosphere just acted as a beautiful reminder of the important things.
