Is It Time For A Spring Clean Yet?

Time To Spring Clean

Okay, so the official first day of Spring is apparently the 20th of March this year.

But for The Asian Destination & me, March is synonymous for SPRING, whatever the weather.

By now, there are some of us that have hung those new year’s resolutions up to dry, ready for December 2014. Whether you are the minority or majority why not use March 2014 as a platform for some Spring Cleaning?

Spring Clean

There are various aspects I’m talking about.

Spring Clean

Ever been through your wardrobe and thought - I haven’t seen this in YEARS?!  but then don’t decide to throw it out because it might come in handy for that fancy-dress theme or may come back into fashion?!

STOP, right there. Thank you very much!

(Yes, I did just make a Spice Girls reference)

NOW is the time to do yourself a favour and take some time to sort out your wardrobe.

Be harsh with yourself:

‘Have I worn this in the last year?

NO = OUT of YOUR LIFE in some form of the other.

‘Will I realistically alter this item of clothing to make it ‘wearable’?

I don’t know about you but I’ve promised myself countless times, that I would sew/alter/pin something and then never get round to it.

Benefits -

We get to do a good deed of the day -

There are plenty of people that can benefit form your old clothes by giving them to a charity shop.

You have some extra room in your wardrobe

…which can only mean a legitimate reason to go on a little shopping trip…right?

Beauty

Have you been using the same make up since the beginning of time (or more realistically, when you starting using make up?)

Guilty.

Have you ever used the same make-up or worn clothes that you see others wearing but know deep down, isn’t the most flattering for you?

Guilty.

Have you ever wanted to make a drastic change in your personal style, hair or ‘look’ but been too scared?

Guilty.

Guess what?!

Now is the time to mix things up a little.

Firstly, I have a really bad habit of holding on to make up that’s a good few years old. Look after your skin though and dispose of anything that may have expired, congealed itself in its container or is more than 4-5 years old.

Next, take a good hard look in the mirror.

And repeat. I accept myself as I am.

Block out all those voices saying, ‘well….yeah, if I was a bit more [insert here] or a bit less [ insert here].

Along with this acceptance, also acknowledge the fact that your personal style is meant to be original to you and though you may want to wear a certain type of garment, it might not suit you - but that’s okay! What looks great on you may not work for your best friend.

Finally:

This time last year, I had a lot longer hair. After um-ing and ah-ing about whether or not take the plunge and cut my hair. Looking back, I can’t believe it’s been a year.

Sometimes, we need to take a drastic step, a leap of faith and embrace the change.

Whether it’s your own personal style, your hair or even maybe your attitude to things, why not take the plunge this March?

 Spring Clean

Have you heard the saying:

"You become like the 5 people you spend the most time with?"

Is it time to reevaluate some of the friendships you’ve been keeping?

When you’re trying to succeed in this crazy, sometimes chaotic world that we called life, it is essential to have people that encourage you, believe in the things you do and help you remain focused.

Anyone that puts you down repeatedly, radiates negativity or just puts you in a bad mood needs to be  SPRING - CLEANED out of your life this March!

Happy Spring-Cleaning!
