Afternoon Tea at Asia de Cuba
I visited the wonderland, that is Asia de Cuba, once before.
But this time, we were on a hunt for tea...and lots of it.
When I say Afternoon Tea, what comes to mind?
Cucumber sandwiches, Earl Grey Tea and scones, I'm assuming?
Everything typically and lovably British.
---
Afternoon Tea at Asia de Cuba is something different entirely.
Much like I found out when I came here for lunch, the menu offers a twist to the usual.
Sticking with its characteristic fusion menu, we were served a Cuban-Asian Afternoon Tea without leaving London.
---
But, you need to see it to believe it, right?
Let me start off by introducing my big sister of a friend, Ruchi.
...and also the cute little Mango, kiwi and strawberry layered bottles in front of her!
Afternoon Tea here comes in two installments here.
First thing is first.
Brits can't start anything without a good pot of tea.
We deliberated from the selection below::
Tea to accompany Savoury Traditional Iron Buddha Dragon Well Bohea Lapsang
---before opting to remain traditional and both went for the Iron Buddha.
Our feast started savoury::
Hot smoked salmon tart with quails eggs & chipotle hollandaise Cubano pressed sandwiches with BBQ pulled pork, Swiss cheese and ham Beef and vegetable empanadas with Caribbean hot sauce Fresh green mango, cucumber & mooli summer roll (v) Hot and sour chicken & avocado spring roll
before satisfying those sweet teeth with the dessert selection::
Chocolate chilli cream and pistachio crumble Banana spring rolls filled with white chocolate and coconut ganache Freshly made doughnuts rolled in cinnamon sugar with butterscotch sauce Key lime pie topped with a soft meringue Savoury scones served with Mojito butter
More tea anyone? Don't worry they already had it covered with a new selection::
Wuyi Big Red Robe Lychee Red Vanilla Black
One last beverage later, our afternoon was complete.
Full to the brim with tea, food and girlie chatter it was time to leave wonderland....
but only after a game of chess?!
Which was so rudely interrupted by a telephone calling out to us...
...well, it's even ruder not to pick up a phone that's calling, right?

The Asian Destination Recommends going here if::
- you want to try an alternative to the 'traditional' Afternoon Tea
- you love a fusion mix of cuisines and cultures
-you love a quirky atmosphere and relaxed surroundings
---
The ambience and surroundings of St martin's Lane Hotel is just the right balance of quirky and modern and feels, as I've mentioned before, a little like wonderland.
If you're looking for more hotel recommendations though, I would recommend, Hotels.TV particularly for companies, groups or events in the London area.
