Are YOU a member of The Club...or are you a Scaredy Cat?
For those that went to university with me, The BC or The Breakfast Club actually stood for something else…and no, it didn’t even have anything to do with the film.
By now though, all you Londoners will know that The Breakfast Club is no longer a well kept secret.
Famous for its American diner style breakfast/brunch menus and evening gigs, all branches of The Breakfast Club are always heaving inside and out. Anyone in need of directions can be told to ‘look out for the queue’ and know they’re headed to the right place!
So when my friends visited me a few weeks ago, wanting an insider’s guide to London, The Breakfast Club was a must on our to-do list.

Be prepared for the long queues, whatever the weather! We had to wait in the rain...
Your patience will be rewarded with some milky hot chocolate and marshmallows (we sadly just missed out!) BUT I love this little touch from eateries these days (this also happened to those waiting outside Dishoom).
After about an hour of waiting, we entered and my friends were met with the retro surroundings. Being Saturday brunch/lunch time, it was heaving but the staff there were smiley, attentive and really friendly.
We’d initially set out for brunch but by the time we were in, it was late lunchtime.
Still that didn’t stop us from devouring our food:
Before venturing ‘through the fridge’…
Wanting to show my friends something different and make the most of our visit to the Shoreditch branch, we decided it was time to see ‘The Mayor’.
The Mayor of Scaredy Cat Town
is a small bar hidden away, below the main floor of The Breakfast Club.
A cute little room, decorated more like an Alpine lodge accommodates no more than about 50 people, seated and standing.
For us, it ended up being a great chance to catch up, in a more intimate area with a cheeky drink…or 3.
The Asian Destination recommends The Breakfast Club:
- if you aren’t in a rush!
Everytime I’ve even walked past a branch, there has ALWAYS been a queue.
-So make sure to go early for brunch/or go with your early bird friends because you will be waiting for at least 30-40 minutes on a good day.
That said, the wait is definitely worth it.
For ambience alone, I’d go again.
The food is great and enough to satisfy even the hungriest for breakfast!

-for feeling like you've uncovered a hidden gem despite its recent popularity!
- Go here if you prefer a more intimate environment with fewer people
- If you're in the mood for something a bit different
